Stratford earns nine wins at Marathon Track Invitational

MARATHON – Stratford won nine events, two from Kayla Casperson, at the five-team Marathon Track & Field Invitational on Tuesday at Marathon High School.

Loyal won the girls title with 123.5 points, with Stratford third with 95, while the Stratford boys finished second with 111 points behind Marathon (125).

Casperson won the girls 800 meters (2:36.78) and 1,600 (5:47.56) as the Stratford girls won four events.

Kassedy Downey also won the 400 (1:06.60) and was part of the 1,600 relay team, along with Sadie Weigel, Kaylie McHugh and Dawnyel Martin, that won in 4:30.96.

The Stratford boys earned five individual titles, including a pair of relays.

Stratford’s 400 relay team of Payton Glenn, Austin O’Neil, Coltan Breit and Kaden Foster won 45.89 seconds, and the 800 relay team of Zander Zawislan, Foster, O’Neil and Breit won in 1:37.23.

Glenn also won the boys long jump (19 feet, 8¾ inches), Brandon Knetter was first in the triple jump (39-7½), and Benjamin Zuelke won the high jump (5-8) for the Tigers.

Stratford will compete at the Rhinelander Invitational on Thursday before hosting the Marawood Conference Meet next Monday.
