Auburndale baseball hammers Crandon in WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale put up four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, cruising to a 10-3 win over Crandon in a WIAA Division 3 baseball regional quarterfinal on Thursday at Auburndale High School.

The No. 4 seed Auburndale (14-7) moves on to a D-3 regional semifinal at No. 1 seed Coleman (20-1) on Tuesday. Crandon finishes its season with a 8-7 record.

Auburndale chased Crandon starting pitcher Elias Glinski early as he only retired one batter while walking one and allowing four runs and three hits.

The Eagles piled on six more runs in the fourth through sixth innings to pull away.

Alex Willfahrt was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI, and Caden Weinfurter had two doubles, a single and drove in three to lead the way for the Auburndale offense.

Nathan Richardson added a double and a home run, and drove in two as well for the Eagles.

Blake Raab went the distance on the mound for Auburndale, striking out three and scattering seven hits.
