Marshfield girls soccer shuts out Reedsburg to claim WIAA Division 2 regional title

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls soccer team pitched its second-straight shutout in the playoffs as it blanked Reedsburg 4-0 to win a WIAA Division 2 regional final Saturday at Heiting Community Stadium.

The No. 2 seed Marshfield (12-8-1) will play a Division 2 sectional semifinal at No. 1 seed Sauk Prairie (12-4-3) on Thursday. Game time has yet to be announced. Sauk Prairie blasted Baraboo 9-0 on Saturday to win its regional final.

Big Rivers Conference rivals River Falls (8-4-9) and New Richmond (14-4-1) will play in the other sectional semifinal Thursday at River Falls. The winners of the two semifinals will play in a D-2 sectional final Saturday, June 10, at Marshfield at 1 p.m. for a berth in the state tournament.

Grace Taylor scored in the opening minute, off an assist from Hayden Berger, and assisted on a goal by Lauryn Katzenberger at the 21:56 mark to give Marshfield a 2-0 lead, which held through halftime.

Cassandra Langfoss scored on an assist from Presley Franklin at the 61:35 mark, and Taylor added another goal, on an assist from Avery Weister, with 7:57 to go to finish off the victory for Marshfield.
