Marshfield Senior Legion finishes 0-4 at Eau Claire Tournament

EAU CLAIRE – The Marshfield Senior Legion baseball team saw its losing streak reach nine in a row with three losses at the Eau Claire Legion Baseball Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Carson Park.

Marshfield lost to Winona (Minn.) LeJetz 6-4 and Eau Claire 13-0, on Saturday, and 11-4 on Sunday, to finish the three-day tournament at 0-4 and fall to 3-15 this summer.

Marshfield led 4-3 after five innings against Winona before LeJetz rallied with two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh.

The Blue Devils were held to two hits in the loss – a single by Ben Dietsche and an RBI triple by Brock Bennington in the third inning.

Dietsche took the loss on the mound, giving up four runs, three hits and six walks in five innings.

Marshfield only had two hits in the loss to Eau Claire as well, singles by Bennington and Aden Cherney.

Against De Pere, Marshfield railed to tie the game at 4-4 with a pair of runs in the fifth inning as Judd Higgins scored on an error and Trevor Foemmel knocked in Bennington with a sacrifice fly.

De Pere responded with four runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh to pull away.

Bennett Lang and Bennington each had two hits for Marshfield.

Marshfield hosts Stevens Point on Monday at 8 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
