STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield Post 54 Senior Legion baseball team dropped its regular-season finale to Stevens Point 6-3 on Sunday night at Bukolt Park.

Stevens Point scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings to pull away.

Marshfield scored once in the third when Ben Dietche, who was hit by a pitch, eventually came in on a wild pitch.

Brock Bennington smacked a two-run home run in the fifth for the Blue Devils, but they couldn’t get any closer.

Marshfield had the tying run come to the plate in the top of the seventh but failed to score.

The Blue Devils (4-20) will play Plover in their opening game of the Class AAA regional on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Field in Plover. The double-elimination tournament, with a berth in the state tournament in Marinette on the line, runs through Saturday.
