PLOVER – The Marshfield Post 54 Senior Legion baseball team saw its season come to an end with a 13-7 loss to D.C. Everest in an elimination game at the Class AAA Region 2 tournament on Friday at Memorial Field.
D.C. Everest scored four times in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed, scoring in five of its six at-bats.
Emmitt Konieczny drove in two runs, and Brock Bennington, Isaac Zeps, Bennett Lang and Ben Dietsche each added RBI for the Blue Devils, who finish the season with a 5-22 record.
Plover went on to defeat D.C. Everest 5-1 later Friday, eliminating Everest, then beat Wisconsin Rapids 6-1 on Saturday to claim the regional title and advance to the Class AAA American Legion Baseball State Tournament in Marinette on July 25-29.
