Strong start pushes Colby past Spencer/Columbus football

COLBY – Colby scored six unanswered touchdowns in the first half and improved to 2-0 with a 46-14 win over Spencer/Columbus Catholic in a nonconference football game Friday at Colby High School.

Ivan Haemer scored four rushing touchdowns, and Gavin Voss and Brody Viegut each added rushing touchdowns as well for the Hornets, who finished with 288 yards on the ground.

Spencer/Columbus scored its first touchdown of the season on a 69-yard pass from Devlin Timmler to Landon Behselich in the second quarter, and Jack Hoeper added a 24-yard touchdown run in the fourth for the Rockets (0-2).

Spencer/Columbus will open its Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division season against Shiocton next Friday, Sept. 1, at Spencer High School.
