SPENCER – Spencer/Columbus outgained Shiocton by nearly a 3-to-1 margin, but couldn’t find the end zone in a 7-0 loss to the Chiefs in the Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football opener for both teams on Friday night at Spencer High School.
A 24-yard touchdown run by Jordan Jahnke in the third quarter for Shiocton provided the game’s only points.
Spencer/Columbus held a 284-99 yardage advantage and held the Chiefs (1-2, 1-0 CWC Large) to only five first downs while forcing two turnovers – interceptions by Mason Wolf and Logan Ehlert. But the Rockets could not put any points on the board and were shut out for the second time this season.
Landon Behselich ran for 102 yards on 11 carries, and quarterback Devlin Timmler completed 9 of 18 passes for 101 yards for the Rockets (0-3, 0-1 CWC Large).
