OCONTO FALLS – Auburndale quarterback Kaden Anderson threw two long touchdown passes to Nathan Richardson and ran for two more to lead the Eagles to a 28-16 nonconference win over Oconto Falls on Friday night at Oconto Falls High School.
Auburndale also picks up a Marawood Conference win due to a forfeit by Wild Rose, which is now playing 8-player football, and the Marawood-Central Wisconsin Conference Small crossover game was canceled. The Eagles picked up the nonconference matchup and improve to 4-0 overall.
After Oconto Falls scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion early in the first quarter, the Eagles responded as Anderson hit Nathan Richardson on a 70-yard bomb to cut the deficit to 8-7.
Anderson ran in from the 4 and the Eagles converted a two-point pass to take a 15-8 lead into halftime.
Aderson had a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and following an Oconto Falls touchdown to cut the Eagles’ lead back to six, Anderson hit Richardson again for a 51-yard score to finish off the victory.
Oconto Falls racked up 280 yards off offense, but Auburndale was able to force one interception and hit the big plays to pull out the victory.
Anderson finished with 217 yards passing on 11 completions, three to Richardson totaling 157 yards.
Auburndale will begin its true Marawood Conference schedule at home against Pittsville (4-0, 2-0 Marawood) next Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. All six Marawood teams are 2-0 after sweeping the 12 Marawood-CWC Small crossover games over the past two weeks.
