Marshfield volleyball wins three of four at Eau Claire Memorial Invitational

EAU CLAIRE – The Marshfield volleyball team won three of four matches at the Eau Claire Memorial Invitational on Saturday.

Marshfield swept Altoona 25-16, 25-15, and Sun Prairie West 25-19, 25-9. Facing host Memorial, the Tigers won in three sets 22-25, 27-25, 15-12, but having to play them again for the championship they couldn’t repeat as Memorial won 11-25, 26-24, 15-11.

Abby Ongna had 47 kills and 10 blocks, Kailyn Kurth dished out 90 assists and had 20 digs and five service aces, and Ashlyn Barwick had 39 digs for Marshfield.

Grace Taylor added 14 kills, 18 digs and seven blocks, Sophia Olson had 13 kills and 13 blocks, and Lauren Homolka had nine blocks for the Tigers.

Marshfield will play a nonconference match at Mosinee on Thursday before competing in the second Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet of the season next Saturday, Oct. 7, at D.C. Everest.
