Columbus Catholic volleyball sweeps Spencer, ensures at least share of Cloverbelt East title

SPENCER – The Columbus Catholic volleyball team earned at least a share of the Cloverbelt Conference East Division title with a 3-0 sweep of Spencer on Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

The Dons won 25-15, 25-20, 25-11, to improve to 6-0 in the Cloverbelt East this season. They maintain a one-match lead over Colby in the standings with one match remaining. Columbus Catholic hosts Gilman and Colby will be at home against Spencer on Thursday to wrap up the Cloverbelt East season.

Courtney Sommer had 10 kills, 12 assists, six service aces and five blocks to lead the way for Columbus Catholic. Mattea Schlafke added 13 digs and seven kills, Alayna Egle had 12 assists, Emma Dolgner had eight blocks, Aaliyah Krenn chipped in seven kills and Izzy Hoglund had eight digs for the Dons.

Hannah Reckner had six kills and seven digs, Alexa Stange had 20 digs, and Alisia Bocchino had 12 assists for Spencer.
