Columbus Catholic soccer routs Tri-County to finish undefeated Central Wisconsin Conference season

PLAINFIELD – Charlie Moore had a hat trick and seven other players had one goal as the Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with an 11-1 rout of Tri-County on Thursday at Tri-County High School.

The Dons finish off an undefeated Central Wisconsin Conference championship season at 12-0 and improve to 17-4-2 overall.

Alex Edwards scored in the opening minute, Mason Edwards added a goal 1½ minutes in, and Moore added two more as the Dons took a 4-0 lead just 4:37 into the contest.

Kade Dovenbarger had his first career goal, and Cade Jansen, Lucas Kreklau, Seth Roewe and Ben Weiland also scored, as Moore finished off his hat trick for the Dons. The team’s 11th goal came on a Tri-County own goal. Moore finished the game as the goalkeeper and had two saves.

Columbus Catholic earned a first-round bye in the WIAA Division 4 playoffs and will host the winner of Tuesday’s game between Tri-County and Adams-Friendship on Thursday, Oct. 19, in a regional semifinal at Griese Park.
