McDonell tops Columbus Catholic in Cloverbelt Conference volleyball crossover

CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team finished its regular season with a 3-0 loss to Chippewa Falls McDonell in the first-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference crossovers on Thursday night at McDonell High School.

McDonell won 25-17, 25-22, 25-19, defeating the Dons for the second time this season.

Courtney Sommer had 14 assists, 10 digs, six kills and four blocks, and Aaliyah Krenn had nine kills, seven digs and three blocks for the Dons.

Alayna Egle added nine assists and six digs, Emma Dolgner had six blocks, and Delia Trader 13 digs as well for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic is the No. 1 seed in its WIAA Division 4 sectional and will host No. 16 La Crosse Coulee Christian/Providence Academy in a regional quarterfinal Tuesday at 7 p.m.
