AUBURNDALE – Quarterback Kaden Anderson ran for a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to push the Auburndale football team to a 27-13 victory over Colby in the Marawood Conference finale Friday night at Auburndale High School.
The Eagles defeated Colby for the second-straight year and finishes the regular season with an 8-1 overall record, and a 6-1 mark and a second-place finish in the Marawood Conference. Colby drops to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
The teams exchanged touchdowns in the first quarter as Colby’s Gavin Voss ran in from the 5 and Anderson connected with Blake Raab for a 13-yard touchdown pass for the Eagles. Both teams missed extra points and it was left tied at 6-6.
Auburndale took the lead when Anderson threw a 20-yard scoring strike to Mason Meissner and the Eagles led 12-6 heading into halftime.
Voss ran in from the 1 and Bryan Camargo’s extra point put Colby back on top 13-12 heading into the fourth, where Auburndale’s defense stepped up and held the Hornets scoreless, while the offense put up two scores to forge ahead.
Anderson finished 8-for-15 for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed 18 times for 59 yards and two more scores to pace the Auburndale offense.
Auburndale will host Marathon in a Division 6 Level 1 playoff game Friday, Oct. 20.
