Auburndale’s Weiler wins individual title, Eagles finish ninth at Eau Claire North Husky Wrestling Invite

EAU CLAIRE – Auburndale’s Colton Weiler earned the 144-pound title and Derek Godard took third at 113 pounds as the Eagles placed ninth at the 27-team Eau Claire North Husky Wrestling Invitational on Saturday.

Simley (Minn.) won the team title with 547.5 points, holding off defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Kaukauna, which took second with 507 points. Wisconsin Rapids was third with 442, Auburndale ninth with 201 and Spencer/Columbus/Granton placed 19th with 87.

Weiler improved to 11-0 this season for Auburndale by winning the 144-pound championship, defeating Amilio Salas of Simley, 14-8.

Godard suffered his first loss of the season in the semifinals before winning the 113-pound third-place match over Deegan Armagost of Wisconsin Rapids, 7-3.

Zade Grassel took seventh at 126 and Wyatt Malsin was eighth at 157 for Auburndale.

Spencer/Columbus/Granton had two wrestlers earn top-10 finishes as Wyatt Karl ended up sixth at 215 pounds and Mason Dieringer placed eighth at 190.
