Auburndale girls basketball squeezes out comeback win over Edgar

EDGAR – The Auburndale girls basketball team held off Edgar for a tight 42-41 win in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Edgar High School.

The win keeps the Eagles’ perfect record intact as they improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Marawood South. Edgar is now 5-3 and 3-3 in conference play.

Auburndale overcame a 10-point halftime deficit by outscoring Edgar 31-19 in the second half to pull out the victory.

Myah Katzenberger scored a team-high 16 points and Lily Bellanti chipped in nine in the win for the Eagles.

Makayla Wirkus led Edgar with 12 points.

Auburndale hosts Rosholt for a nonconference game Monday at 7:15 p.m.
