Casperson hits 3-pointer in final seconds to lift Columbus Catholic girls basketball past Owen-Withee

MARSHFIELD – Sam Casperson made a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining to lift the Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a hard-fought 37-34 win over Owen-Withee in Cloverbelt Conference East Division action Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

The game was tied at 34-34 before Casperson hit the 3-pointer from the right wing. Owen-Withee’s ensuing attempt to tie the game was stymied and the Dons hung on the win, improving to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Cloverbelt East.

Gracie Wilczek scored 10 points and Casperson finished with nine for the Dons.

Madi Mueller led Owen-Withee (5-3, 1-2 Cloverbelt East) with 11 points.

Columbus Catholic hosts Loyal on Tuesday.
