Spencer boys basketball loses road game at Colby

COLBY – Spencer turned to its 3-point shooting to try to keep pace with Colby, but in the end the Hornets proved too strong and won Friday’s Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game 70-56 at Colby High School.

The Rockets made 13 3-pointers on 43 attempts, including six by Weston Nieman who had a team-high 20 points.

Colby finished off the game with a 43-point second half to stay in a first-place tie with Marshfield Columbus Catholic in the Cloverbelt East standings at 3-0 (3-3 overall).

Joseph Streveler had 27 points and eight rebounds for the Hornets.

Breckin Miller chipped in 17 points, which including four 3-pointers, for Spencer (2-5, 0-3 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer returns to action Thursday at home against Owen-Withee.
