MARSHFIELD – Sophomore Mac Konieczny and senior Nathan Nemitz hit career-highs in points to lead the Columbus Catholic boys basketball team to an 81-42 rout of Loyal in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Konieczny scored 19 points, hitting double digits for the first time in his two-year career, and Nemitz added 17 points for the Dons, who are now 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

The Dons cruised out to a 46-21 lead by halftime and were not threatened the rest of the way.

Cy Becker chipped in 12 points and Charlie Moore scored 10 in the victory for Columbus Catholic.

Reed Steglitz had 10 points for Loyal (1-7, 1-3 Cloverbelt East).

Columbus Catholic will compete in the Rick Majerus Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout on Dec. 27-28 at Concordia University in Mequon. The Dons will take on Brookfield Academy on Dec. 27 at 9:15 a.m. and Winnebago Lutheran at 10:45 a.m. Dec. 28 in a pair of nonconference matchups. The Dons return home Jan. 5 for a showdown with Colby, which is tied for Columbus atop the Cloverbelt East standings.
