UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield men’s basketball knocks off UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities for fifth-straight win

MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Marshfield men’s basketball team continued its hot streak, using a dominating second half to pull past UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities 87-73 on Wednesday night at home.

The win is the Marauders’ fifth in a row and sixth in their last seven in the new year as they improve to 9-6 overall and 8-2 in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference.

Caleb Rucker hit three 3-pointers in the final two minutes of the first half to give Marshfield a 47-44 at the break.

The Marauders were able to build their lead to as much as 19 in the second half as the inside play of Owen Hanson and Sam Everson, and the passing of Jake Skroch was on display.

Hanson finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds, Everson added 15 points and a second-high 17 rebounds, Rucker had a career-high 21 points and Skroch finished with eight points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in the win for the Marauders.

Prince Nde chipped in seven points and nine rebounds, Brennen Peterson had five points and Tyler Linzmeier scored one point to round out Marshfield’s scoring.

The Marauders return to action next Wednesday, Jan. 24, at home against UW-Oshkosh at Fond du Lac in a battle for first place in the WCC. Fond du Lac sits at 7-1 in the conference standings.
