Marshfield wrestling wins three individual titles, takes third at Sparta Invitational

SPARTA – Three Marshfield wrestlers won individual titles as the Tigers finished third at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday at Sparta High School.

Caleb Dennee continued his undefeated campaign for Marshfield, improving to 38-0 by winning the 165-pound title. He won the championship match by technical fall 25-10 over Jakob Luchterhand of Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal.

Grayden Rode (26-11) picked up the 157-pound title with an 11-1 major decision over Braxton Walter of Reedsburg in the championship match, and Owen Griesbach (23-2) was dominant at 175, taking the title match over Mason Lane of Lodi, 9-5.

Mason Seidl (24-10) placed second at 190, Easton Ledden (30-9) took third at 132, and Carter Williquette (113) and Bob Shearer (215) each finished sixth for the Tigers.

Holmen won the team title with 226.5 points, with Marshfield a distant third with 141.5 points.

Marshfield will finish its regular-season schedule with a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual at home against Merrill on Thursday. The WVC Tournament will be held Feb. 3 at Stevens Point.
