Seven former Marshfield athletes compete at WIAC indoor track meet

MENOMONIE – Marshfield High School graduate Sean Harrington placed second in the 5,000 meters to help the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men’s track and field team to the team title at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track Championships on Friday and Saturday at UW-Stout.

Harrington ran the race in a time of 15:02.96 to help lift the Eagles to their 10th straight men’s WIAC indoor championship. UW-Oshkosh won the women’s championship.

Harrington was one of seven Marshfield High School graduates participating in the meet for four different schools.

Kesley Weigel of UW-Eau Claire also earned a medal (top eight) by taking seventh in the women’s Pentathlon (five events) with 2,778 points. She also took 23rd in the shot put (34 feet, 4 inches).

Other former Tigers competing in the meet were Jena Weigel of UW-La Crosse (15th in Pentathlon with 2,204 points); Ellen Stichert of UW-River Falls (17th in 400, 1:04.07; 18th in 55 hurdles, 9.24 seconds); Molly Schmitz of La Crosse (17th in 55 meters, 7.79 seconds); Michelle Theisen of UW-Stout (13th in shot put, 38-3; 16th in 20-pound weight throw, 42-10.75); and Mallory Langfeldt of Stout (16th in shot put, 37-8; and 19th in 20-pound weight throw, 42-3).
