Spencer softball downs Loyal/Greenwood for first Cloverbelt East win

SPENCER – The Spencer softball team posted its first Cloverbelt Conference East Division win of the season, slugging past Loyal/Greenwood 10-6 on Thursday at Spencer High School.

The Rockets scored all 10 of its runs in the first four innings and held on for the win, moving to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in the Cloverbelt East.

Berklie Ireland went the distance on the mound for Spencer, finishing with six strikeouts and six walks. She also had a single, a double and two RBI at the plate in the win.

Emma Nieman had three RBI and Hannah Schreiner knocked in two for the Rockets.

Spencer plays at Gilman on Friday.
