WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. – Andie Varsho, a 2010 graduate of Marshfield High School, is enjoying a great freshman season for the Purdue University softball team.

Varsho, a four-time Wisconsin Valley Conference batting champion while at Marshfield, is leading the Boilermakers in batting with a .464 average (64-for-138) and has started all 43 games this season.

Varsho also tops Purdue (28-14-1, 6-5 Big Ten Conference) with 11 doubles, five triples, 29 RBIs and 32 stolen bases.

She has also hit one home run, is third on the team with 29 runs scored and has not made an error in the outfield for the Boilermakers.

Purdue lost to Penn State 8-5 on Saturday and wrap up the two-game series on Sunday. Varsho was 1-for-3 with a walk.

The Boilermakers wrap up their home schedule next weekend with two games against Wisconsin, and have a pair of two-game series at Michigan State (May 11) and at Indiana (May 13-14) to finish their regular season.
