MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chaparrals baseball team improved to 9-3 this season with a 2-1 win over Taylor County Sausage on Friday night at Jack Hackman Field.
Jake Long pitched six strong innings to earn the victory for the Chaparrals as he struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter. Clint Rogers, Lucious Messerschmidt and Mason Nesbitt each tossed an inning of relief to finish off the win.
Chuck Brehm went 3-for-4 and knocked in both runs for Marshfield. Justin Rayburn had a single and scored both runs for the Chaparrals.
Marshfield will play three straight days this week – Tuesday at Appleton, Wednesday at home against Abbotsford, and Thursday at Plover. All three games start at 7:30 p.m.
