UW-Marshfield/Wood County men’s tennis team finishes second at state tournament

MADISON – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s tennis team finished second at the Wisconsin Junior College State Tennis Tournament held Friday and Saturday at the UW Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Brian Brost won the title at No. 5 singles, Mike Solberg took first at No. 6 singles, and the duo teamed up to take second at No. 3 doubles for the Marauders. Brost and Solberg lost the title match to a team from UW-Baraboo in three sets, losing 7-5 in the third.

UW-Marshfield/Wood County also got match wins from Jared Ystad at No. 4 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Ystad and Ben Resterer.

The Marauders women placed seventh, tying with UW-Rock County.

Breann Haubert at No. 1 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Haubert and Kelsey Fierke had wins for the Marauders.
