Marshfield boys basketball beats Hortonville, loses to Sussex Hamilton at Fort Atkinson tournament

FORT ATKINSON – The Marshfield boys basketball opened its season by going 1-1 at the Fort Healthcare Classic on Friday and Saturday at Fort Atkinson High School.

Marshfield defeated Hortonville 52-39 on Friday night before losing to Sussex Hamilton 43-34 on Saturday.

Luke Zuiker scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds, Matt Oestreich added 13 points and four steals, and Alex Strege had 12 points for the Tigers in Friday night’s win.

Marshfield outscored Hortonville 31-16 during the middle two quarters to pull away.

Zuiker scored 19 points again in Saturday’s game, accounting for more than half of the Tigers’ points. He also added a team-high eight rebounds.

The Tigers host Holmen in their home-opener on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and online at wdlbwosq.com.
