SPENCER – Tynae Phillips tied the game with an RBI triple and later scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a passed ball as the Spencer softball team improved to 3-0 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division with a 3-2 victory over Gilman on Friday at Spencer High School.

Gilman led 2-1 before the Phillips-led rally in the fourth inning and the game remained 3-2 over the final three innings.

Phillips had Spencer’s only two hits and scored two of its three runs in the victory.

Macie Weber tossed a complete game, striking out 10 and scattering five hits and two walks, to earn the win for the Rockets.

Spencer plays at Owen-Withee on Monday.
