ASHWAUBENON – Marshfield’s top singles player and doubles team playing at the WIAA Division 1 boys tennis sectional Thursday were eliminated after losing their first matches.
Marshfield freshman Hunter Schultz lost his first-round match at No. 1 singles and finishes the season with a 10-9 record.
The Tigers’ No. 1 doubles team of Bryce Gadke and Jacob Limmex, both juniors, also lost in the first round Thursday and end the season with a 12-4 record.
Stevens Point won the team sectional title and advance to the 2014 WIAA State Team Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on June13-14.
The top four finishers at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, and the winner at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles move on to the 2014 WIAA State Individual Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on June 5-7.
