Marshfield volleyball wins two matches at first Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament

WAUSAU – The Marshfield volleyball team went 2-0 with a pair of three-game sweeps at the first Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament of the season Saturday at Wausau West High School.

The Tigers defeated Stevens Point 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-19) and Wausau East (25-12, 25-18, 25-21) to improve to 3-2 in the WVC this season.

Natalie Zuelke had 15 kills, four aces and 13 digs, Sara Dasler had a team-high 14 digs, and Stephanie Rhodes had 17 kils and seven blocks for the Tigers.

Ellie Fehrenbach had 35 assists, Anna Ripp added 17 assists and four aces, and Lauren Gilbertson led Marshfield with nine blocks in the two victories.

The second tournament is Oct. 11 at Merrill.

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids in its next match Thursday at 7 p.m.
