Marshfield girls tennis beats Wausau East 7-0 in WVC finale

WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls tennis team won all seven of its matches in straight sets, beating Wausau East 7-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet Thursday at East High School.

Marshfield finishes the Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season with a 4-2 record and 58 points, which is second behind Stevens Point’s 66. East drops to 1-5.

Six of the seven Tigers singles players or doubles teams lost just four games or fewer in their matches.

Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Olivia Haessly and Emily Serchen had the closest match, beating Kali Sather and Sydney Blaskowski 6-4, 6-3.

The Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament is Oct. 2 at Wausau East and West high schools.
