LOYAL – Loyal started the game with a 17-3 run in the first quarter and cruised to a 51-25 victory over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a WIAA Division 5 girls basketball regional semifinal on Friday night at Loyal High School.
The Greyhounds pulled ahead 31-16 by halftime and put the game away by holding Columbus to three points in the third quarter.
Loyal (21-3) will take on Abbotsford (15-9) in a Division 5 regional final Saturday night at Loyal High School.
Morgan Reinwand scored 18 points to lead Loyal.
Abby Baierl hit three 3-pointers and scored nine points, and Jess Trad added eight for the Dons (12-12). Columbus shot just 7 of 41 from the field and made only two 2-point baskets in the loss.
