Marshfield Junior Legion baseball sweeps two from Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Junior American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader from Wisconsin Rapids on Wednesday night, winning 5-1 and 6-5, in a pair of games at Witter Field.

In the opener, Hunter Korger scattered eight hits to earn the complete-game win for the Blue Demons, who are now 14-7.

Marshfield scored three times in the top of the first inning to give Korger more than enough support.

Ryan Krueger had a single and a double, and scored twice for Marshfield.

In Game 2, Marshfield scored single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings to break open a tie game.

Branden Montalvo went the distance for the Blue Demons, striking out five in seven innings.

Logan Matson had a single and a double to lead the Marshfield offense.

Marshfield hosts Pittsville in a doubleheader Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
