Columbus Catholic girls basketball suffers first loss

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 56-38 to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in the championship game of the Cranberry Classic on Saturday afternoon at Assumption High School.

The Dons are now 4-1 this season and will host Granton in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday.

Columbus Catholic was held to just 20 percent shooting (11 of 55) and it made only 16 of 29 free throws.

Marissa Immerfall had a team-high 12 reboudns and Morgan Albrecht led the Dons with 12 points.

Chyrysten Linzmeier was 10 of 18 from the field, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range, and scored a game-high 23 points for Assumption (2-1).

Columbus’ Natalie Pospyhalla was named to the all-tournament team.
