Auburndale softball rips Wausau Newman

AUBURNDALE – A nine-run fourth inning propelled the Auburndale softball team to a 13-2 blowout of Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches led just 2-1 before scoring two runs in the third inning and adding nine more in the fourth to pull away.

Nine different Auburndale players scored and the Apaches (9-7, 6-5 Marawood South) took advantage of nine walks to earn the win.

Alex Soppe earned the win for the Apaches, allowing just two hits and two walks in four innings. She also had two doubles and two RBIs at the plate.

Hannah Bolder added a single, a double and two RBIs, and Jenna Ertl also had two hits for Auburndale.

Auburndale plays at Stratford on Thursday in its final Marawood South game of the season.
