Columbus Catholic boys win team title at home cross country invitational

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys won the Division 3 team title, and Marshfield’s Sophia Schrodi and Joseph McKee earned a top-20 finishes at the annual Columbus Catholic Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Wildwood Park.

Joshua Guyer finished 45th overall (17:55.1) and Peyton Nystrom was 50th (18:11.3) to lead the Dons boys to the D-3 team title, just two points better than Chippewa Falls McDonell among the seven Division 3 teams.

Minnesota powerhouse Wayzata ran away with the Division 1 boys title again, placing its five best runenrs in the top eight. Marshfield was sixth in Division 1, with Joseph McKee taking 19th in 16:56.6. Jordan Dzikowich was 27th (17:18.8) and Joshua McKee finished 28th (17:22.5) as well for the Tigers.

Minneapolis Washburn won the Division 1 girls title, with Marshfield third. Columbus was fourth in Division 3.

Sophia Schrodi led Marshfield, taking 17th in 21:39.3. Teammate Lilly O’Brien was 27th in 22:34.1.

Hailey Roehl was Columbus Catholic’s top girls finisher, taking 38th in 22:57.8. Melanie Lang was 41st in 23:21.8 for the Dons.

West Salem won both Division 2 team titles.

Columbus Catholic will be in the field at the Marshfield Tiger Invitational, which will be held Tuesday at Frey Field in Spencer.
