STEVENS POINT – A strong defensive effort and a long touchdown run by Brant Bohman lifted the Marshfield football team to its second-straight win, a 17-14 decision over Stevens Point on Friday at Goerke Field.

Marshfield held Stevens Point scoreless through three quarters and Bohman’s 56-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave the Tigers enough breathing room to hold off the Panthers.

Marshfield is now 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Valley Football Association West Division. Stevens Point drops to 1-4 and 0-4 in conference play.

Ryan Krueger had a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead at halftime.

Mason Coffren kicked a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter, and after a Stevens Point touchdown, Bohman ripped off his long TD run to put Marshfield up 17-7.

Stevens Point scored its final touchdown with just 2 seconds remaning.

Bohman had 79 yards rushing, Krueger added 39 yards on the ground, and Isaiah Baierl rushed for 46 yards as the Tigers averaged nearly 6 yards per carry.

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids (3-2, 2-2 VFA West) next Friday, Sept. 22, at Beell Stadium. The game starts at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
