Dolezal wins gold medal at Pan American Championships

MANAUS, Brazil – Marshfield High School wrestler Brad Dolezal won a gold medal last weekend at the FILA Pan American Cadet Championships.

Dolezal won at 152 pounds (69 kilograms) in the Greco-Roman division, helping the United States team to the team title with 65 points, four points ahead of Brazil. The USA team was second in the freestyle division with 78 points. Canada won with 84 points.

Dolezal also finished second in the freestyle competition at the same weight. He beat Carlos Cespedes of Peru, Richard Maura of Brazil and Christian Rivas of Ecuador before losing to Reid Watkins of Canada in the championship match.

In Greco-Roman, Dolezal beat Cespedes and Daniel Ferreira of Brazil to win the title.

In all, the U.S. team won six gold medals, three in each style.

Wisconsin Rapids’ Rylan Lubeck also won a gold medal in Greco-Roman, winning at 138.75 pounds (63 kg).
