RHINELANDER – Emma Haugen and Brooke McGrath each won events to help the Marshfield gymnastics team to a second-place finish at the Snowflake Invitational on Saturday at Rhinelander High School.
Haugen won the vault with a score of 8.875, edging teammate Isabelle Jensen, who had a score of 8.7 to finish second.
McGrath won the floor exercise with a score of 8.95.
“We usually have a meet under our belt before this invite, so I definitely think the first-meet jitters were evident today,” Marshfield coach Allie Dryer said. “We have lots of room to improve from here. We took several falls on beam, as well as some falls on floor. I think our team score will increase drastically once we can improve the consistency.”
Jensen also finished third in the balance beam (8.15) and Macey Smith was fifth in the vault (8.4) for Marshfield’s other top-five finishes.
Ashland won the team title with a score of 131.55, with Marshfield second at 127.025.
Marshfield will compete at the Arcadia Quadrangular on Tuesday.
