Columbus Catholic girls basketball tops Greenwood for eighth win

GREENWOOD – Addison Baierl had a career-high 17 points and Morgan Albrecht added 15 points to lead the Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a 73-56 victory over Greenwood on Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.

The Dons started strong, moving out to a 41-25 lead by halftime, and held on from there.

Columbus Catholic is now 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the Cloverbelt East, while Greenwood drops to 2-6 and 2-4 in the conference.

Columbus made 17 of 28 free throws in the win, while Greenwood was just 1 of 4 at the line.

Columbus Catholic now has two weeks off before returning to action Jan. 4 at home against Neillsville in a showdown for first place in the Cloverbelt East.
