Stratford girls basketball tightens up defense in second half to top Edgar

EDGAR – Stratford clamped down defensively in the second half, holding Edgar to just three made baskets and 12 points on its way to a 56-33 victory in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Monday night at Edgar High School.

Stratford led 25-21 at halftime before busting the game open, outscoring Edgar 31-12 in the second half.

Chelsey Gliniecki had 16 points and eight rebounds, and Brenna Ackley added 10 points for the Tigers, who improve to 8-6 overall and 7-3 in the Marawood South.

Emily Lepak made three 3-pointers and had 11 points for Edgar (2-11, 1-9 Marawood South).

Stratford plays at Abbotsford in a Marawood crossover game Friday.
