A pair of Marshfield juniors were named honorable mention selections to the 2017-18 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Hockey Team, which was voted on by the six conference coaches following the season.

Ryan Krueger and Adam Maki were the only two Marshfield players picked to the team, both as honorable mention choices.

Krueger topped Marshfield in scoring with eight points (two goals, six assists) in conference play, while Maki had three goals and one assist as the Tigers finished 1-9 in the WVC, 12-14 overall, and reached the WIAA sectionals.

“(Adam) was very consistent throughout the season,” Marshfield coach Eric Bowman said. “We relied heavily on four defenseman this season, and Adam was an important player on our team. He saw time on special teams, both power play and penalty kill, and even strength moments. He did not miss a game this season for us, and his demeanor and attitude was contagious throughout our locker room.

“Our first line took some really big strides this season, and was able to compete well against some of the best players in the conference. Ryan was a large reason for this. He is a player who works hard in the offseason as well, and he made some big strides this last season, almost doubling his point total from the previous season.”

D.C. Everest goalie Michael Janke and Wausau West defenseman Max Techel were both unanimous first-team selections and were named Co-Players of the Year in the conference.

D.C. Everest senior defenseman J.J. Berdal was the only repeat first-team pick after topping the WVC in total points (21) and goals scored (13).

Forwards Barrett Brooks of Stevens Point, Ryan Begley of D.C. Everest, and Cade Lemmer of Wausau West round out the first-team selections. Brooks was also a unanimous first-team pick.
