Former Brewer Jeff Cirillo to be honored at Red Smith Banquet in Appleton

APPLETON – Former Milwaukee Brewer and current Fox Sports Net Wisconsin analyst Jeff Cirillo will receive the Nice Guy Award at the 46th annual Red Smith Banquet on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton.

Cirillo, an 11th-round draft pick by the Brewers in the 1991 draft out of USC, went on to become the Brewers all-time career batting average leader, hitting .306 during his career from 1994-99 and 2005-06.

He hit a career-high .326 in 1999 and was an American League all-star in 1997. Cirillo was traded to Colorado in 1999 and also played with Seattle, San Diego, Minnesota and Arizona before retiring following the 2007 season.

Cirillo will be joined at the head table by Red Smith Award winner Ron Dayne and main speaker Greg Gumbel.
