EAU CLAIRE – Eau Claire North scored the first four points of overtime and held on to defeat Marshfield 71-69 in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday at Eau Claire North High School.
The loss for the Tigers ends their 13-game winning streak and they fall to 18-2 this season.
Marshfield’s Brooks Hinson hit two free throws with 2:09 to go in regulation, tying the game at 64-64. Neither team would score the rest of regulation.
North (10-9) led by four before a basket inside by Landon Lee for the Tigers cut it back to two with just over two minutes to go in overtime.
The Huskies made two of three free throws to make it a five-point game before a Hinson 3-pointer brought Marshfield to within 71-69 with 34 seconds left.
Eau Claire North missed the front end of a bonus free throw situation but Marshfield couldn’t cash in. The Tigers forced a turnover on the ensuing possession, but missed two shots in the closing seconds as North held on.
Chris Pohl had 20 points and nine rebounds, Hinson had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Ethan Knecht added 12 points for Marshfield.
Andrew Rocksvold scored 26 points and Elliott Bessen had 24 points for Eau Claire North.
Marshfield will travel back to Eau Claire on Saturday to take on Memorial (15-4) in another nonconference game.
