Marshfield girls basketball stakes claim to a share of Wisconsin Valley Conference title with win at Wausau West

WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls basketball team put the finishing touches on a share of the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship with a 51-39 win over Wausau West on Thursday at West High School.

The Tigers jumped out to a 26-13 lead by halftime and were able to hold on the rest of the way, finishing their regular season with a 16-7 record and an 11-1 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Marshfield shares the conference title with Stevens Point, which defeated Wisconsin Rapids in its finale on Thursday. The WVC title is Marshfield’s first since 2020.

Ashley Grancorvitz scored 14 points and Zaida Kolbeck added 12 in the win for the Tigers.

Marshfield will enjoy a week off before hosting Holmen (13-10) in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal on Friday, Feb. 23.
