AUBURNDALE – Evan Scholl drilled six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points to lead the No. 2 seed Auburndale boys basketball team to a 69-42 win over No. 7 seed Phillips in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Auburndale (21-4) moves on to a D-4 regional final at home against No. 3 Edgar (19-6) on Saturday at 7 p.m. Edgar defeated No. 6 Iola-Scandinavia 64-60 on the road Friday night.
Caden Weinfurter added 18 points and six rebounds, and Kaden Anderson scored 12 points in the win for the Eagles.
Auburndale doubled up the Loggers (13-13) in the first half, taking a 40-20 lead into intermission, and were able to empty its bench late as it cruised to the 27-point win.
The winner of Saturday’s game will take on the winner of Marathon-Stratford in a sectional semifinal on March 7.
