Two Columbus Catholic players, one from Spencer named to 2023-24 All-Cloverbelt Conference East Division Girls Basketball Team

Columbus Catholic senior Courtney Sommer was a second-team selection, teammate Gracie Wilczek earned honorable mention status, and Spencer sophomore Autumn Davis was also an honorable mention pick on the 2023-24 All-Cloverbelt Conference East Division Girls Basketball Team, which was voted on by the eight conference coaches following the season.

Sommer averaged 6.1 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game for the Dons, which finished 8-6 and tied for fourth in conference play this season.

Neillsville senior Paris Opelt was named the Cloverbelt East Player of the Year for a second-straight season, while earning first-team honors for the third year in a row.

Opelt averaged 16.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 4.2 steals per game for Neillsville, which won the Cloverbelt East title with a perfect 14-0 record.

Joining Opelt on the first team were teammates Madi Davel and Sydney Subke, Gilman’s Danielle Mann, Greenwood’s Tysen Lindner and Owen-Withee’s Kendall Weiler.

Wilczek, a junior, came back from a knee injury suffered last season, to lead Columbus Catholic in scoring at 7.4 points per game with 17 3-pointers.

Davis, a sophomore, was an honorable mention all-conference choice for the second year in a row. She led the Rockets in scoring at 15.6 points per game with 34 3-pointers, and also averaged 6 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game.
