Marshfield boys tennis opens season with win at Medford

MEDFORD – The Marshfield boys tennis opened its 2024 campaign with a 5-2 nonconference win over Medford on Thursday at Medford High School.

The Tigers swept the three doubles matches and split the four singles matches to earn the victory.

Ryan Grassman and Kevin Buth toughed out a three-set win at No. 1 doubles for Marshfield, coming back after a 6-3 loss in the first set to win the next 6-3 and a tiebreaker 12-10.

Aran Tripathi and Rahul Dissenyake at No. 2 doubles and Beckett Hall and Justin Franks at No. 3 both won in straight sets to help the Tigers finish off the victory.

Marshfield will host its home opener Tuesday against Eau Claire Memorial at the Boson Tennis Complex at Marshfield High School.
