Marshfield’s Emma Ridgway wins high jump title at Wisconsin State Indoor Track Championships

WHITEWATER – Marshfield, Columbus Catholic and Stratford had numerous athletes compete at the Wisconsin State Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Marshfield junior Emma Ridgway tied a school indoor record in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches, to take first among 54 participants in the girls event. She also placed 33rd in the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 8.29, the best for the Tigers since 2017.

Marshfield’s 1,600-meter relay team of Ella Allar, Ashley Grancrovitz, McKenzie Holm and Gracie Ridgway placed 18th in 4:23.26, and Gracie Ridgway added a 23rd-place finish in the high jump (4-10).

Ethan Knecht had the Marshfield boys top finish, taking 16th in the shot put with a throw of 47-5¾.

Koehler Kilty placed 14th in the shot put with a toss of 48-1/4, Payton Glenn took 16th in the long jump (20-1) and Brandon Knetter was 18th in the triple jump (40-5½), earning top-20 finishes for the Stratford boys.

Brianna Sherden had the Stratford’s girls lone top-20 finish, taking 17th in the long jump with a jump of 16-2¾.

Columbus Catholic’s lone participant at the meet was Aubrey Waldhauser, who tied for 41st in the girls high jump (4-8) and placed 56th in the triple jump (30-8).

Marshfield will compete at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Indoor Meet at UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday. Stratford will also be back in action Tuesday as it hosts a six-team home meet at Tiger Stadium.
