EAU CLAIRE – Mac Konieczny and Carter Sommer combined on a two-hit shutout as the Columbus Catholic baseball team defeated Eau Claire Regis 2-0 in a nonconference game Monday at Mt. Simon Field.

Konieczny threw 5 2/3 innings of one-hit ball to earn the win, and Sommer got the final four outs to secure the save as the Dons improve to 6-0 this season.

Columbus Catholic scored both of its runs in the second inning without a hit. Devlin Timmler scored on a wild pitch and Nathan Nemitz had a groundout to plate Sommer with the game’s only runs.

Mac Konieczny had Columbus Catholic’s only two hits in the win as the Dons drew eight walks.

Columbus Catholic hosts Loyal for a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game on Friday at 5 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
